A Review

I’m fucking bored as a rock now cause nobody wants to go see Transformers and/or firework shows.  So i’ll do one on T.I. So far several bloggers such as Bol have panned this album the same way Idlewild was panned. And yet record sales are already in the 100,000 (as of yesterday so it could’ve reached a million).

Note: I am reviewing the album in the order my Mp3 player has it in.

Act 1 (T.I.P.)
Pretty much the intro for T.I.P.’s part of the album. I dont consider these “Acts” to be actual songs.

Eh. The album starts off with a clunker. This is kinda your textbook T.I. track. Sounds more like a throwaway track from King.

Big Shit Poppin’
Didnt like it at first but now i’m warming up to it. Nothjing really memorable about this. Maybe the guitar riffs in the back.

Tell ‘Em I Said That
A better track than the last 2. Lyrically and musically superior.

Da Dopeman
Mannie Fresh does a pretty good job with the beat on this. But you can only go so far with “drug tracks”. Although this track is screaming “Jeezy Collabo”, he never shows up. Aaaaaaayyyy. Naaaaaaaaaaaayyyy!

Watch What You Say To Me
Not a very good track either. T.I. does what he does on here. Khao gives us another boring beat. The only high point is the Jay-Z appearance. In which he tears Weezy F. Gheyby a new one.

You Know What It Is
A shitty shitty track. The beat is horrible. And Wyclef throws around “Bloodclot” too much. Why do people try and revive his career. He made the Ying Yang Twins shittier than they already were on their last album.

Act 2 (T.I.)
It’s T.I.’s turn to throw some punches. But I have my doubts. Other than the Dopeman. The first third didnt really stack up to past T.I. tracks.

Help Is Coming
And it seems like these tracks wont either. Just Blaze at his fucking worst. Or maybe i was expecting too much. King Back is my favorite track on King.

My Swag
Oh great more Wyclef. Meh this track is superior to to the other one with him. It sounds like something off of that Rick Ross album…in a good way.

We Do This
Ah yes. The turning point of the album. T.I. spits lyrical fire over in my opinion the best Runners beat ever. It has a “final showdown” vibe to it. Which i’ve always loved.

Show it to Me
Pretty good track. Could’ve thrown out that Nelly verse but meh. This album has much worse tracks.

Don’t You Wanna Be High
The track for the ladiez. At first I felt the beat to be slightly above average but then the hook came. When i heard those synth riffs i almost pissed my pants. That single handedly made this track more tolerable than most love tracks T.I. ever did.

I don’t understand why people hate this beat. For that matter, all Eminem beats. I categorize this as one of my top 3 songs for this album. Yes I said it. Go ahead. Throw rocks at me.

Act 3 (T.I. Vs. T.I.P.)
Who’s gonna win? Who’s gonna win? Dunno. The loser however is obviously the mirror.

The best track of the album. Danja produces a masterpiece. While T.I. Busta Rhymes (who always satisflies me with his lyrics) and even the weed carrier Alfa Mega throw hard hitting lyrics.

Respect This Hustle
Another good Danja beat. I like how he kinda put a “Along the Heights Of Alma” type sound on the hook. (For those of you who don’t know what “Along the Heights of Alma is” it is a Irish battle song used during the Civil War.). Irish battle songs + hip-hop= a combination of sounds never concieved before.

My Type
The beat could be better but T.I. (or T.I.P.) spit fire all over this track. The best track lyrically.

Final Thought:
I’ve never really been a huge T.I. fan, and throughout the first half of the album i saw no difference to this and his past songs. But the second half proved me wrong with musical and lyrical prowess that T.I. had never shown me. A special TIP of my hat to The Runners, who delivered 2 classic beats. This is my favorite T.I. album. And that’s saying soemthing.

Fave Tracks: We Do This, Touchdown, Hurt, Respect this Hustle

Worst Tracks: You Know What It Is, Help is Coming
